tibs four za FINAL

There are eight TRUE/FALSE questions, worth a mark each.

There are three fill the dotted line questions, worth a mark each.

There are two short-answer questions (explain why ...), worth two marks each.

The rest are problem-solving questions.

Very few questions are new.  You've seen most questions before; either in the revision sheet or last year's final, or in your lecture notes.  What is being asked of you may have changed, so read the exam carefully.

Here is a list of all the topics in the exam, make sure you UNDERSTAND them and you can answer any of the above type of questions on them:-

  1. Hough transform
  2. The DFT (the version of the Fourier Series applicable to images)
  3. Compression - runlength, chaincoding, lossy, lossless
  4. Iterative thresholding
  5. Local vs global thresholding
  6. Region growing
  7. Median filtering
  8. Edge detection filters
  9. Fourier series
  10. Highpass and lowpass frequency filters
  11. Region Splitting
  12. Object tracking
  13. Image subtraction
The list is ranked by number of marks, with the blue points worth 1 mark each.

Last year's midterm + Tips

Here is last year's midterm.

Tips for this year's midterm.

It's a relatively easy exam.  So go in well-prepared by solving last year's 5th, last year's mid, and revising everything we did in the lectures (you took notes, right?)  Taraggi's sheets too.

Questions may look very similar to things you have seen before, but may ask different things; so read the questions carefully.
